about this design

Coming of age in New York, Gardner takes inspiration here from brutalist architects like I.M. Pei, James Ingo Freed and others to create an unforgiving pattern of rectangles, reminiscent of a cityscape and it’s myriad structural forms.

Here, she colors the rug in subdued hues of burnt orange, grays and taupes, further connecting this urban vision to it’s inspiration.
