about this design

Named after Mehmet the Great’s Ottoman Palace that serves today as a world renown cultural museum in Istanbul, Topkapi, incorporates and makes modern ancient motifs used in Anatolian rugs since time out of mind.

By scaling them up, overlaying and creating space, Gardner looks back to recognize the cultures, people and quality of hand-knotted rugs while at the same time placing these priceless and timeless values firmly in the now.
