Fire Island

$0.00

production

  • hand-knotted 50% Tibetan wool and 50% Chinese silk

  • 100 knots per inch

  • 5mm and 5.5mm cut pile

  • 18+ weeks lead time

  • flexible customization

about this design

A shell found during a walk with her daughter on Fire Island was Emma’s inspiration for this rug. “When I saw this shell I knew I wanted to capture the striations in a way that simulated the dazzling look shells have when they’re still wet. Using blends of silk and wool in pale pinks and beachy neutrals allowed us to produce the desired shimmery effect,” she said.

In this way, this shell fragment, blown up as if held for close examination, reveals the beautiful forms and inherent balance found in nature
